Hi,

I've solved my problem with my Microtek ScanMaker 636 by buying a cheap
AVA 2902 for it only... AND IT WOKS ! (and fine !)

please inform anybody for this "cheap scsi interface" problem with
microtek ...

This is a totally different problem and usually related to very poor
scanner interface design on the part of the scanner maker. I would
suggest you get a separate 2902 or similar card for the scanner since no
amount of intelligence in the driver can work around truly poor firmware
designs in scanners. Now, having said that, I can't test this since I
don't own a scanner and I could be wrong, but that's been my impression
when fixing these problems in the past.

Hi,

well, sane 1.00 bugs my AIC 7890 controller with timeouts that force me to use the "Microsoft button" ;-) which is not fun for 18 Go checking next ...

my actual conf is kernel 2.2.1 with an Asus MB+AIC 7890 (2x8.7 Go DD UW on

U2 slot, and external chain on UW slot ...).

I don't know what you mean by microtek2 (I hope it is not scsi2 because the SCSI slot is SCSI 1....)

TIA,

Emmanuel
