The crashes no not depend on the net backend nor on the running OS. My
systems have 95MB and 132 MB memoryand I tested with no system load. It
also happens if you use local scanners. The crashes seems to occur if
you often open and close different preference windows. It is the same
problem on both of my systems, Linux 2.0.32 and Unixware 2.x.
