Problems with Artec AT12 and NCR53C810

I recently bought an Artec AT12 Scanner. I have a problem, can't get
xscanimage os gimp (through a network connection) to get past the first
(perfect) scan. The second one is impossible.

I am using a NCR53C810 host adapter, Linux 2.2.0-pre2 (tried with 2.1.129 ...
2.1.132 adn 2.0.36-pre-something), sane 1.0, updated artec backend. The same
hardware works ok in the 'GUI from Redmond'.

Any suggestion? I have sent a message to the creator of the sane Artec
backend, but I am not sure that there is a problem in it.
