sane-1.00 compile success

Hi all,
I have read in the gtkfaq.txt on what to do to uninstall completely
gtk-+*. After reinstalling gtk-+1.0.6 (with glib) everything went
smoothly.

Exept xscanimage as plugin crashes when I click on "Turn automatic
brightness" feature. KDE prints this error message:
wire_read: unexpected EOF (plug-in crashed?)

Is this a known feature?
