I'm just wondering if you could answer a couple of questions here.
Some months ago I got hold of an old scanner called Microtek Scanmaker
35t, which I want to get up and running in Linux as well as Windows 98.
I'm aware of the fact that only the scanmaker 35t+ is officially
supported by SANE, but I tried it anyway.
The scanner is detected like this duric startup (including scsi):
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
aha152x0: vital data: PORTBASE=0x140, IRQ=9, SCSI ID=7,
reconnect=enabled, parity=enabled, synchronous=disabled, dela
y=0, extended translation=disabled
aha152x: trying software interrupt, ok.
scsi0 : Adaptec 152x SCSI driver; $Revision: 1.18 $
scsi : 1 host.
Vendor: MICROTEK Model: PTS1800S SCANNER Rev: 1.04
Type: Scanner ANSI SCSI revision: 00
scsi : detected total.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is what happens when I try to run scanimage:
scanimage -dmicrotek > test.pnm
Error message:
scanimage: sane_start: Error during device I/O
The slide in the scanner moves down to the bottom of the scanner, but
doesn't come up again, although the "READY" light is green.
I do the same once more, and it (the slide) moves up and then down
again. READY is not green (nor blinking). It hangs there, without giving
any status message.
If i control-c the process, it says "scanimage: stopping scanner..." and
then hangs.
I have to kill -9 the process, switch the scanner off and then on again,
and then reboot just to do the same failing attempt to scan.
My question is: is it possible to make this scanner work with sane, and
if not: will it be supported at some stage?
I'd be glad to contribute and make a driver myself, but unfortunately I
haven't got that much programming experience and/or low level hardware
experience yet.
Any suggestions/answers appreciated :)
Best regards,
Lars Erik Kolden
