Sane upgrade

I recently tried to upgrade my system from sane 0.74 to sane 1.00 and found that sane 1.00

now fails to detect my scanner.

I had to revert back to sane 0.74 to get my system working again.

Opsys: RH5.2

Scanner: HP C6200 without ADF

When using scanimage from the command line under sane 1.00 specifying the device as

hp:dev/sge I can actually scan in a page but therafter the scanner becomes unusable.

None of these problems manifest themselves with sane 0.74

Xscanimage is also broken under sane 1.00 whereas it works fine for me under sane 0.74

As I know too little about sane I request some help from somebody that has been able to get

sane 1.00 working with an HP C6200 series scanner.
