ok i've had an attempt at doing this. everything basically works, but
there are a couple of problems.

first off, i'm not sure how to (safely) determine if the device is a
scsi device or an hpscan device. i'm worried that if i start throwing
scl directly at a scsi interface nasty things might happen.

also, the hp driver is very scsi oriented and, without completely
restructuring it, the hpscan/hporig stuff is always going to be, erm,
less than elegant.
