i have a mustek paragon 600 II cd scanner (identified as MFC-06000CZ 2.03
by sane). i use the scanner on a symbios logic 810A board together with a
yamaha 4260 and a external zip drive. generally all seems to work well,
but to get correct grayscale pictures in higher resolutions than about
100dpi i have to use backtracking which is ways slower than without.
furthermore my scanner doesn't stop at the end of the scanable area but
tries to scan further possibly damaging the scanner.
how far the scanner will try to go further is resolution dependent about
1cm with 300dpi with 600dpi even 6cm.
i have noticed that other people also have this problem, but exactly my
scanner revision is mentioned in the man page to work correctly so i am a
bit confused.
perhaps this problem occurs with german versions???? (because the other
message about a similar problem is from germany and most hw sold in
austria will be the german version).
nevertheless this problem is really annoying (and means scanning more than
one or two pages cannot be done in a reasonable amount of time in linux).
if somebody has a clue or could tell me where i could try to fix this
problem i would be very happy. i do not know how sane is programmed and
did not take a closer look, but it should be no problem for me to help fix
this problem or maybe fix it myself if someone with knowledge about the
sane source code could help me.
waiting for answer!
