Well, it's not shrinked. It's just a fact that
the 12000SP's optical resolution is 600dpi, *NOT*
(as one might expect) 1200dpi. So, if you specify
1200dpi, the scanner uses a horizontal resolution
of 600dpi, whereas the vertical one is 1200dpi.
(the latter is easy to accomplish by halfstepping
of the motor.)
That's a very common advertizing trick amongst
scanner manufacturers.
