QMS drivers?

I have a QMS 2001 (also known as QMS 660, or QMS Knowledge System).
It is a scanner and laser printer in one box.
Has anyone tried to write a SANE backend for this?
Has anyone any experience of trying to get enough info from QMS
to write a suitable backend?
