Please read the man page sane-mustek(5). It talks about this.
Particularly the option "strip-height" should be of interest to you.
Also, you might want to increase the size of the sg-scsi buffer (see
sanei-scsi(5)).

Read sane-dll(5). You'll probably want to comment out all lines in
dll.conf except for "mustek".
