Hi there. I'm pretty new to SANE (using version 0.72 with a Umax Astra
1200S scanner).
I am unclear as to what each of the following options does. (The tool
tips aren't particularly enlightening; neither is the man page). Can
anyone explain what each of these items does, what the benefits of using
it are, etc.?
10-bit mode
quality calibration
bind RGB
use custom gamma table
Advanced settings:
slow speed
smear
preview patch
start-scan patch
Also, what settings do you folks recommend, to get the best quality scans?
Right now, my scans are coming out kind of dark, with a bit too much red
in them (I have to use GIMP's color balance tool to get the red out).
Thanks!
