I posted a couple of days ago regarding some problems with my UMAX-1200S
scanner. In spite of reading all the docs I wasn't using the bsd driver.
For the people who follow, I will try and explain why:
1) I've had the card in this PC before the bsd version entered the kernel.
2) When you have the old one selected you never see the other one.
3) I naively assumed that what I had picked was the bsd driver, since
I had the .c file in the drivers/scsi directory.
Eventually, after several nudges from Oliver, I looked at the config.in
file (or whatever its called) and from there realized what I was
using and how to select the correct one.
Bottom line:
Do not select: NCR53c7,8xx SCSI support
Select : NCR53C8XX SCSI support
Now the scanner works great!
Thanks alot everyone,
Philip
