A Debian sane user has reported a bug with xscanimage exiting in
undesirable places. By installing
newer version of some of the supporting libraries, I managed to make
xscanimage exit without any accompanying error messages.

Here's my description of how to reproduce the bug.

start xscanimage with a Umax Astra 1200S
Click on "Preview Window"
move the scan resolution slider
click on "Preview Window" again

after the second "Preview Window" click, xscanimage exits. I include
the library version which I am using (the number after the dash is the
Debian release number and can be ignored by non-Debian people, as can
the "1:" in the libgtk1 version).

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Please include a cc to "20690-forwarded@bugs.debian.org" for Debian
bug-tracking purposes.

Here is a sample of output mesages:

** WARNING **: file gtksignal.c: line 1043 (gtk_signal_real_emit):

I have found that when I click the Preview Window in the umax area, then
adjust some settings, and click the Preview Window button again, xscanimage
will crash.
