If I know hot the /proc/scsi/scsi output look on other systems, I will see
if that works!

That is something that - at least I think - should not be done in the
scanner driver. For that you have to have root-rights, so it is not a
good idea if I think about it.

I wrote a file "addumax" and "delumax" that does this call (has been included
in "umax-cli") I will see if we can include this files into the sane-tools
as "addscanner" and "delscanner".
