Two quick bits:
o the unnecessary "strdup" declaration (which David removed for me) in
the microtek backend was an artifact of previous release prob. which
I forgot to remove.
o the default 0x0 scan size is purely an oversight on my part...
In any case, it's neat to see that SANE is gaining ground and momentum,
as evidenced by all this mail...
