I tested the patch "B" for Astra 6X0S on my 610S.
It gave ~= results as patch "A".
I can provide you with 4 files (grey-p.pnm, grey.pnm, color-p.pnm and
color.pnm) and the 4 corresponding .debug files (SANE_DEBUG_UMAX=128),
which show that the scanner reports error several times while reading
data from the image. [The .tar.gz file is 1.3Mb long].
Apparently, the backend read data from the scanner while the scanner
told there is no data available yet. (I know this because the error
message disapear at the time the scanner start to move). The size of the
"black area" seems to be linked to the number of errors the scanner
return.
I can send smaller images, but you will only get the "black area"... So
probaly useless for the purpose of ordering the lines.
