TWAIN-compatibility simply means that there is a windoze driver that
implements the TWAIN interface. It has nothing to do with the hw
protocol.

The only parallel interface scanner currently supported is the Mustek
600 II N (and it has some problems, IIRC). I don't know of any other
efforts of implementing support for non-SCSI scanners.
