xcam not working on UDB (Linux/Alpha)?

i have just grabbed the latest RPMS for RedHat 5.0 (both x86 and alpha) from
TSX-11. I am encountering several problems here:

1. x86: I will only get one still using xcam and then the thing will hang.

2. alpha: xcam will not detect a quickcam on the parallel port of my UDB
(neither B/W nor color)

I have verified that the i/o port in qcam.conf is correct (by checking
/proc/ioports). Any suggestions?

And last: what is the status of the generic SCSI driver for SPARC/Solaris?
I have a sj4c idling besides a Ultra 1 which would make a good workstation
for scanning and image processing.
