Could someone please add this to the FAQ (or is it there already ?) ... !
TWAIN has nothing to do with any kind of standard for hardware access.
TWAIN is basically an API allowing a program to ask the scanner driver
to acquire an image. All the rest is left to the driver. Including making
up the API. And as DOS/Win/MAC TWAIN drivers cannot be run on Unix normally,
the mark "TWAIN-compliant" is no use at all for us.
The naming of SANE is not purely coincidential ... ;-).
