Compiling xscanimage/Mustek 600 II N

Hi,

I've had some success with my Mustek 600 II N scanner now--at least
it is switched on when I do "scanimage mustek" --I haven't had the
time do much more. One of my problems is I haven't been able to
compile xscanimage. What do I need to do to compile it? I issued the
commands "./configure" "make" and "make install" in the toplevel
directory. I also did "make" & "make install" in the frontend
directory--just a wild guess from me but something did
happen;-). As you can see I am a Linux newbie and I'm just
fumbling around in the dark sometimes... I really wish there was
better documentation available that doesn't take for granted that the
user is a programmer or very experienced user. There were some error
messages when i compiled--is there any way i can capture these
messages into a file? I know how to copy & paste from the screen but
can i do when the messages scroll of the screen? Is there a log file
from the installation somewhere?
Grateful for any answers to these questions!

Regards
Johan Bengtsson
