Scanner-Support for HP LaserJet Companion?

Hello,

I'm looking for a piece of software supporting Hp's LaserJet
Companion. It's 300 dpi scanner connected to a parallel port between
(!) Host and a LaserJet printer series 4, 5 or 6. It can be used as
a scanner and for making direkt copies to printer.

As far as I can see sane supports HP scanner only as SCSI device? Is
there any hope for using LasterJet Companion as scanner from a Unix
Host?

Any hints are welcome.

- Andreas
