Yes it was thanks.

And when I was trying scanimage on all /dev/sg* devices I hadn't set permissions
for the scanner groups, as I was running it as a normal user rather than root.

Now it works just fine. I even like the interface more since it's more accesible
than the Win95 thingy shipped with the scenner.
