This is only remotely related to SANE, but I think more likely that
there's someone here who has experienced the problem or has a clue
how to fix it.
Using HP Scanjet 5p, RedHat 4.2, distribution 2.0.30 kernel on
PPRO/200.
-Was- using RH 4.0. At that time everything installed smoothly and
worked perfectly as soon as I figured out /dev/sgb. :)
-Now-, under 4.2, all pnmto??? utils fail with:
pnmtotiff: bad magic number - not a ppm, pgm, or pbm file
Did not have this problem under 4.0. Tried the older versions of
pnmtotiff with same failure. Wish I had some older *.pnm files to
compare with, but not in the habit of leaving bunches of 80M files
lying around. :)
For completeness, using script found via DejaNews (wrap caused by
Pegasus).
RES=1200
WIDTH=4
HEIGHT=6
scanimage -d /dev/sgb -x ${WIDTH}\" -y ${HEIGHT}\" --resolution
${RES} --mode Color
Have no clue where the root of this problem is, appears to be 'some'
sort of version incompatibility.
Thanks for your help. ANd many thanks to the SANE developers for your
fine work.
Have a :) day!
