crw-r----- 1 root root 21, 0 Oct 3 1996 /dev/sga
crw-r----- 1 root root 21, 1 Oct 3 1996 /dev/sgb
crw-r----- 1 root root 21, 2 Oct 3 1996 /dev/sgc
crw-r----- 1 root root 21, 3 Oct 3 1996 /dev/sgd
crw-r----- 1 root root 21, 4 Oct 3 1996 /dev/sge
crw-r----- 1 root root 21, 5 Oct 3 1996 /dev/sgf
crw-r----- 1 root root 21, 6 Oct 3 1996 /dev/sgg
crw-r----- 1 root root 21, 7 Oct 3 1996 /dev/sgh

however you will have to check which of these devices to take.
For my scanner which is standalone on its bus, it is /dev/sda.
In other cases count the devices in order of their SCSI-ID.
sgf would say that the scanner is the 6th device in the order
of the SCSI-ID.
