I have been having problems with the mustek scanner (600 II CD) and
my NeXT hardware. I will contact the NeXT newsgroups for advice
but I thought that I mention it here. I think the problem is
related to the mustek SCSI problems mentioned in the sane-mustek man
page. That is, if I run scanimage to scan an image that is "large
enough" (in bytes) to cause a write to disk, the scanner stops and
eventually scanimage quits with no image stored. Everything works
fine if I scan a really low DPI (where I suspect that the entire
image is buffered before it writes to disk). Some examples:
scanimage -d mustek -t 0 -l 0 -x 150 -y 150 > test.pnm (works!)
scanimage -d mustek --resolution 72 -t 0 -l 0 -x 150 -y 150 >
test.pnm (crashes)
When I say "crashes" I mean, leaves the scanner light blinking.
Scanimage cannot locate the scanner again unless I power cycle.
I know that the SCSI bus is locked while the mustek does it's thing
so how the heck am I supposed to write the image to disk? The Next
hardware only has a single SCSI controller. Anyone know of a
solution to this? Thanks for any and all advice!
