Look for the time out in the Buslogic driver that's causing it and
increase it to something like a minute or so. Alternatively, try
playing with a smaller -y value and then the problem will likely go
away as well (but it's not really a fix, of course).
If you send me a patch with the timeout fix, I'll include it somewhere
in SANE.

Did you do a full "make distclean", "configure", "make" cycle? SANE
tests for gtk+ during configuration time.
