Looks like xscanimage got compiled without GIMP support (see
HAVE_LIBGIMP_GIMP_H in include/sane/config.h). Without that support,
xscanimage won't recognize the -gimp option that GIMP is feeding it.

Does your system have libgimp/gimp.h installed in a strange place
(/usr/local/include should work fine, for example)?
