The SCSI-Programming Howto is pretty good. But frankly, you'd hardly
have to know anything about SCSI programming. That part is all nicely
isolated in the sanei_scsi_cmd() function. Just looking at the HP
backend should illustrate how simple it really is.

Yes, I had this in my TODO list for a while now:

=09- xscanimage: provide both scale and textentry for ranges

I think the best way to do it would be to create a scale/text-entry
combo-widget (this is functionality that will be useful to other gtk
apps as well). I probably won't get to it anytime soon, though.

What is the "template mechanism" you are referring to?
