Does anyone else on this list have access to a SuSE V4.3 based system.
SANE builds perfectly fine for me on Red Hat 4.0 on Alpha and x86 so
I'm not sure why it fails on SuSE. The error message below almost looks
like an installation problem. Is this a known problem with SuSE?

I used S.u.S.E. V4.3. This is an ELF distributuion (for x86) with 2.0.18
kernel.
The distribution is from October 1996. I now have 2.0.27 kernel and gcc
V2.7.2
If more information is required, ask me about.
